We focused on asking questions with ‘how much’, ‘how many’, ‘how long’ and ‘how far’.

Practice using the correct structure for sentences in English ( subj + verb + obj). Make 5 sentences using the words ‘thermos’, ‘thermal’ and ‘thermostat’. Practice asking question with ‘how much’ and ‘how many’. Ask 5 questions – remember to use ‘do’ or does’.

Vocabulary

sick leave – time when you don’t work because you are sick
How much sick leave did you take last week?

annual leave – yearly time off
How much annual leave do you usually take?
(annual = yearly  – don’t use ‘per year’ with this)

thermos – a special bottle to keep things warm or cool
I keep my tea in a thermos

thermal (adj) – something that keeps you warm
I wear thermal socks in winter

thermostat – the machine that regulates the temperature of the AC
Turn up the thermostat because it’s cold
