Homework

Use some of the vocabulary from today in some writing. Choose a topic that lets you use the words we learned.

Vocabulary

A personal day – a day off when you have to deal with a personal issue
I’m taking a personal day because my mother is sick

A sick day – a day off because you are sick
I took 2 sick days last month because I had a cold

Annual leave – yearly holiday time
I took 3 days of annual leave for Spring festival and 4 days of annual leave for Christmas.

Pretend (verb) – 假装
The boy pretended he was a policeman

Found out (adverbial phrase) – 暴露
He was found out for pretending to be a policeman

see through someone’s lie (expression) – 揭开谎言
They saw through his lie when he pretended to be a lawyer

expel (verb) – to push out
The boy was expelled from school for pretending to be a teacher

Dropped out (adverbial phrase) – to decide not to go to school
Steve Jobbs dropped out of Harvard
