Speaking exercise

I’m busy with my work and most of the time I need to think about my business plan or there are so many detailthat I need to consider and BAU which is a business as usual, or regular operation.

I woke up and washed my face and then I cleaned / wiped the table and wash my clothes and chat with my colleagues.

I woke up at 10 o’clock in my house because I’m so tired from my work which has been very busy recently. After that, I washed my face for 3 minutes which I think I should do every day. Then, I wiped the table because it has been very dirty for a long time so I thought today I should clean it.

Writing exercise

Dear ___,

I am writing to you today to bring something to your attention that I feel needs addressing ASAP. I thought it would be best to give you a heads up before you arrive. As you already know, there is some gap between the Mexico team’s deployment plan and what the China team requires in order to have a successful launch of the NSO 3.0 project.

We have communicated with them about our concerns regarding this, however they are yet to give us an adequate response or action plan to address this issue. As of now, they do not seem to have a complete deployment plan, roadmap, or blueprint for the China project.

The risk was found yesterday after a conference call with the Mexico team. We realised that the response time from them, once the project is live, was going to be far too slow for us to be able to get changes or amendments to the source code done in time. This response time issue will also cause delays with the output to the client, from 2 days to over 2 weeks potentially.

I feel that this issue will possibly cause extreme dissatisfaction among clients and I don’t see a positive result from this project. In my opinion, we have 2 options that we could pursue. One is for the China team to improve our old system and simply manage this project ourselves. We could do this by both maintaining the old system, as well as optimizing the output of the reports. This would reduce our operation costs by up to $400,000 USD per year as we will no longer need to be paying vendors for this service. Otherwise, I feel it would be wise for us to delay this project until perhaps early next year once we have had the chance to see a successful case from India or Mexico which we can use to help us know how to manage this project ourselves.

Please let me know your decision as well as any thoughts you have on this. Looking forward to discussing this further with you next week.

Regards,

Mimi
