The evaluations for listing in National reimbursement drug list (NRDL)
进入国家医保目录的路径和考虑因素
Ÿ Clinical considerations: Generally, price and efficacy are top two important evaluations for chronic common diseases, this is because chronic common disease usually affects a large patient size which means large budget impact. So far, the government have done some adjustment on drugs’ price and national reimbursement drug list. The prototype of NRDL adjustment has been developed. For a newly launched product, the government would like to see the superiority compared with old products as well as the competitive price, otherwise there is no reason to include the new drug. And compared to oncology disease, it is not so eager to include more drugs in NRDL for chronic cough, the government would rather like to save budget for oncology drugs, so the evidence of superior efficacy is critical
Ÿ Economic/economical ? considerations:
On the other hand, the budget impact on medical insurance fund is another key factor for listing in NRDL since the government are responsible for reasonable fund allocation.
For this product, it is indicated to patient who displayed symptom for over 1 year so the eligible patient size is limit which means a small impact for fund.

In most regions of China, the NRDL policy is only apply in inpatient, there is another reimbursement list that various among different regions for outpatients, and even some regions have no reimbursement for outpatients. And outpatient reimbursement usually are more restricted of among, dosage and patient condition etc. So it is not enough for us to list in NRDL successfully

For this product, it is indicated to / it’s necessary for / it’s suitable for / it’s designed for patients who displayed symptoms for over 1 year so the eligible patient size is limited which means a small impact for / on the fund.

In most regions of China, the NRDL policy only applies to inpatients, and there is another reimbursement list that varies across regions for outpatients. In addition, some regions have no reimbursement for outpatients and outpatient reimbursement usually is more restricted in terms of, dosage and prescription length with patient condition & severity of symptoms being a factor considered. So, it is not enough for us to simply list in NRDL (alone).
