What’s your experience in art business?

How many years?
I have worked in the jewelry industry for the past 14 years.

What companies?
When I just started it was just like a hobby for me, and my family had been in the industry for some years before that, so I spent some time helping them and found I was passionate about it so I spent some time learning and working, and learning on the job. At that time this industry was quite different to now, in that it was much simpler and not complex designs, but my family did some business with Europe and the US and I realised I was a big fan of luxurious and complex designs, and realised this part of the industry had a lot of potential for growth. My family doubted that my ideas on jewelry and felt it wasn’t suitable for the Chinese market but I was determined to give it a go. I got a lot of confidence when I started to find customers.

What have your learned from this experience?
I learned that building long lasting trust by being honest and direct is something I feel is very important and useful in my business.
