Vocabulary

durable – strong and not easy to break
eg. plastic is very durable

EU – European Union – Europe

UN – United Nations – a group of the biggest countries in the world that try to keep the world peaceful

War is becoming less and less common over the last 70 years because countries would rather trade than fight. Wars are terrible. Every time there’s a war there will be thousands of people dying, which is bad for humanity. There are still wars going on which cause some deaths but not as many as the big wars of the 20th century like WW1 and WW2. Most of the wars happening now include drug wars and civil wars, rather than big wars between countries. These days we have the UN, ICC and other things that make countries stay friends instead of fighting.
