I am reading Harry Potter recently and have questions on below words meaning and how I can appropriately apply into daily life .

1. Would you like to wait here and greet him or would you prefer to step inside and warm up a trifle ?

reckon – more casual than think

tend 
eg. I will tend to your wounds = fix / help / heal
eg2. I tend to do funny things when I’m drunk = often / generally

Ok boss I will attend to it = I will do it / take care of it
attend – more formal than “do / take care of”

I will tend the / tend to the garden so don’t worry, it will be attended to.

eg. I will try to tackle the problem myself, before asking for help

advance – approach but more vivid
I advanced on her – feels like it’s on top of you and growing
I approached her – direct

step – a normal movement of your feet on the ground
stomp – lower pitched, stronger, heavier step
march – a proud, direct walk from A to B

to tip sb off – to give them secret information about sth
eg. the police work with tip offs (n) all the time to find criminal activity
eg2. the gang member worked with the police and tipped them off (v) about the location of the drugs
