speak out – to speak against sth and make many people know about it (protest)
speak up – speak louder / to say sth when others are silent (to break the silence)
speak – use your mouth to say words

clown – xiao chou

it’s like getting blood out of a stone – almost impossible / very difficult
eg. getting kids to express themselves openly is sometimes like getting blood out of a stone
eg2. getting overtime pay from my company is like getting blood out of a stone

mix (all becomes one and can’t see the individual parts) / combination (things together to make a whole, maybe the things are still clearly different)
