I have been having some health issues like upset stomach and sleeping difficulties as a result of my circumstances, and I’m finding it a little hard to adjust.

I feel bad for him / I feel like it’s a shame / I feel like it’s a pity = I feel sorry for his situation / empathy
I pity him / He’s shameful = strong / look down on him
assumption – sth you guess
prejudice / preconceived idea – ideas that you have that you have before you really know the truth (like racism)

pawn – an unimportant piece in chess
eg. I feel like a pawn in the government’s plans = they are using me to get what they want
deadline – the time that sth must be done by
eg. we have a deadline for this project

ambivalent – lacking strong feelings in one direction or another
eg. I’m ambivalent about government
outspoken – sb who says what they want and speaks “out” against things
