I have been in South of China for more than 6 years, I talk to Southern people everyday. So it is normal that my accent got hasĀ (or don’t need to use has)Ā changed. But some of my friends cannot accept it. Once I went back to my hometown for the CNY, I hung out with some friendsĀ andĀ one of them said that my accent was super weird and I should correct it. At that time, I didn’t realized that my accent got hadĀ changed, so I was a bit confused. She kept complaining about my accent and asked me not toĀ talk to her anymore. The accent that I had now made her uncomfortable. I was uncomfortable as well. I don’t think anĀ accent can influence a friendship. Obviously, it really does, because after that party we had had, she never talks to me and neither do IĀ we never spoke (with each other).
In China, Southern people like Northern accents as they can very funny, it soundsĀ like are singing a song. However North people don’t like Southern Accents.
