The American Psychological Association defines industrial and organizational psychology as the “scientific study of human behavior in organizations and the work place.” It’s interesting that most of time we think we are rational, but actually we are not. We are using our instincts to help us handle things in our daily lives. At last, we build up our pattern unconsciously, which make us or our behavior predictable.

For example, we tend to compare things in order to judge them, and we like to compare things that are easy to compare. Our comparisons generally follow the path of least resistance. Imaging that you have to buy a house, one you have to renovate a little bit but the seller will provide you a discount accordingly, the other one does not need any extra work. Probably, you will choose the latter. Maybe you do not know a lot about the differences between these two houses. But you have a feeling that one does not need extra work while the other does. One is better than another, so you pick the better one. That is also why you should hang out with people who are less attractive than you are. They are your decoys.
