Vocabulary

Fed up – to be very tired of or annoyed with something/someone
eg. I am really fed up with this guy always asking me to watch his videos.
eg. I’m fed up with writing papers for my chief.

Can’t take it anymore – similar to ‘fed up’, meaning to be extremely annoyed with something
eg. I can’t take it anymore, tomorrow I am going to tell me chief I don’t have time to write his papers.
eg. I can’t take it anymore, I will tell this guy to leave me alone

get a life – someone that has nothing important to do and often wastes the time of others
eg. This man needs to get a life and stop distracting me from my work.
They have no purpose in life=need to get a life

Embassy –> Building that is the office of a foreign government (only in the Capital of a country)
Consulate -> Building that is the office of a foreign government (other major cities)
Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) –-> United Nations, WTO, WHO

Ambassador – the head diplomat from a foreign country.

Go out – 
– To go out of a place/go out to a place –> I need to go out and leave the office tonight.
– To go on a date with someone –> Do you want to go out for dinner with me?
– If it keeps snowing then the power might go out.
– To go out of your way and make an exceptional effort

To go out of your way = bending over backwards (an exceptional effort to accomplish something)

Go ahead – to allow someone/something to happen, give permission for it
eg. If you ask for something then you hope they will say ‘go ahead’ (yes)

Hoodie/sweater/sweatshirt/jumper (British) – 毛衣

Blurt out – to say something without thinking (usually causing an awkward situation)
eg. He was dating so many girls and blurted out the wrong name and she was very angry

Dump – to break up with someone in a relationship
eg. She caught him cheating and dumped him.

Chick flick – a girly movie that mostly women see
Flick = film/movie
Chick = girl; also means a baby chicken
eg. My favorite chick flick is ‘The Devil Wears Prada’

Pet name – a cute name that people is a relationship (boy/girl friend) use for each other (sweetie, cutie)

Get by – to be able to continue/survive/be okay (usually a situation that is worse then the present)
eg. I couldn’t get by without eating my favorite food once a week.
eg. I couldn’t get by without watching a movie weekly/every week.
eg. I could get by with earning just 10,000 rmb a month
eg. I could get by with only watching 4 movies a month.
Get by with (survive with only having) -> I could get by with 1 meal a day/5 hours of sleep a night
Get by if (you could survive if …) -> I could get by if the weather was a little cooler

Grammar

So I don’t always cooking

I usually cook too much and it lasts for several days.

only/just – to indicate that something is very small/low
eg. I usually watch 5 movies a week but was busy this week and could only/just watch a single movie.
