Fried – to have one surface cook in the heated oil
Deep fried – to put complete under oil to fry it
Boiled – to cook with water
Baked – cooked in an oven
Oven – a box that heats up to cook food
Microwave – to heat up pre-cooked food
Grilled/BBQ – cooking something on a heated grill (meats/veg)
Steamed – Cooking from heated evaporated water
Evaporate – liquid turning to a gas
Poached – to cooking something in a small amount of hot water (usually has vinegar & oil or salt in it)
Smoked – to cook something using heat air (smoke)
Pickled – to fermented a fruit or vegetable
Ferment – to cause something to go bad
eg. Yogurt is fermented milk

Hors d’oeuvre – small foods eaten during a reception
spread – space between many objects
Dead set – a personality/mood where one is unwilling to change their mind/opinion
