TP07 Task 4

Behavior modification is the learning process where people learn to adjust their behavior according to their consequences. Like teacher and student, if a student gets positive response from a teacher, he will tend to repeat what he did last time to get more and more rewards and praise. On the contrary, if his behavior leads to punishment from the teacher, he will do it less. That is my understanding of behavior modification.

The salt level in the lake is so high that the fish and birds population are facing great danger. In the lecture here solutions are given, however, none of them is realistic or practical.
First, even we donā€™t consider the expense, desalination will produce solid materials include chemicals. They are toxic and could be spread by wind and harm peopleā€™s health.
The second solution is to build a pipeline or a canal to carry the sea water to the lake. Since the nearest coastline is 100 kilometers away, the expenses of building such a pipeline or canal will be a great fortune that the local government canā€™t afford.
The third solution is to build a ā€˜wallā€™ to separate the lake into different sections, so we can reduce the salt level of a small section more easily. Unfortunately the lake is located in a region where earthquakes often happen. No wall will survive through a major earthquake, which is obviously going to happen in the future. When the wall is destroyed in the earthquake, the water of different sections will be mixed again and the work we do will be in vain.

Tpo 54 writing 2

Both arts and athletics are helpful and important to the society. However, between spending more money in support of the arts and in support of the athletics such as state-sponsored Olympic teams I will definitely choose the first option- the arts!
When we facing an important issue and need to make a choice, we need to make sure which option is better for the whole society. If we spend more more money in the arts, we will be able to acquire more arts products and build more galleries which will be opened to the society with no entry fees or very low entry fees, which will allow much more citizens including children to have more chance to see the master pieces in a close distance. The esthetic education is very important in forming peopleā€™s character and moreover it will form societyā€™s character, make the society more peaceful and elegant. So it is an option which can benefit the whole society and contribute to the civilization.
As to the athletics such as state-sponsored Olympic team I have different opinion. The nation should give the Olympic team support in a limited range. The athletes In such a high level competition should be professional, which means they can make money by their performance and sponsorship from the society like companies or organizations. Governments should not spend too much money in such a small group of people. Instead, governments are supposed to think more about the society and all the people.
Compare the two ways of spending money we will easily out the first option is for the societyā€™s good and the second one is for a small group of peopleā€™s good. The answer is also obvious. Governmentsā€™ responsibility is for all the peopleā€™s good, and leave some jobs for the society, such as sponsoring the Olympic team. That is the right decision of this question
