Vocabulary

Anthropology- The study of human culture and society

e.g. I did my Bachelor’s at McGill in anthropology.

Religions- things that we believe in, such as Jesus Christ, or Buddha, or Daoism.

e.g. I don’t really follow any kind of religion, I just believe we should be kind to everyone.

Wake- A period of time to go visit a deceased person, where the family puts the body on show.

e.g. In Ireland, during a wake, people go visit the family and drink in their house until they get drunk.

Morbid- Topics that are very dark or sad.

e.g. I’m usually very interested in morbid topics but my friends don’t like to hear them.

Mourn- the opposite of celebrate, when you feel very sad and you have to show it, like when someone dies.

e.g. My grandmother mourned my grandfather for 2 years after he passed away.

Funeral- An event that tells everyone someone has died, and where we pay our last respects to the dead person.

e.g. I don’t like going to funerals because everyone always seems so sad.

I would like to apply to the McGill University which is known as “the Canadian Harvard”.It’s located in Montreal, and the reason why I choose this university is that its variety of major courses.There are environgeology, psychology, political science and so on.When the students are out of work, they will play sports for their healthy daily.The three most popular sports are basketball, ice hockey and Canadian football.Well,l think l can probably pick one from them for training myself.Actually, l learned all these information about the McGill University not only on the Internet, but also introduced by the daughter of my father ‘s colleague.She said that the great atmosphere in this university has impressed her a lot.There were seventeen libraries and seven museums.That was really surprised amount for me, so the environment can be my another reasons.
l am a girl who is optimistic, hard-working and talkative.l think that my communication skills is better than some of others.l always organize my classmates to take part in some activities. I have led seven students in my class to the community near our school for helping the cleanings as volunteers twice a week.In addition,l can assist teachers for small things because my experiences of being several years for monitor.l have determination on my every single event,the same as get the offer from this university.
