Clarifications/To Clarify- To make something clearer.

e.g. I didn’t understand what he said so I asked him to clarify.

Burn out- Becoming too stressed or tired and not being able to continue

e.g. My colleague was burned out because she worked many days of overtime last week.

On-Call- To be on stand-by

e.g. Some doctors have to be on-call on their days off.

Influence- To give someone an idea that might change their decision.

e.g. Our lawyers generally try to influence the client’s final decision.

News Junkie- Someone who is addicted to reading the news.

e.g. My husband is a news junkie, he is always checking the news.

Quota- A certain number that  must be respected or followed.

e.g. The factory has a quota of items is must produce every month or it will lose money.

Cap- Something that sets a limit.

e.g. Your salary will be a capped after 20 years of work; it won’t go any higher.

Comply- To follow or respect some rules or guidelines.

e.g. My company says if we don’t comply with our contract, we will be fired.

Rule out- To dismiss something or not accept it.
