Vocabulary

Vinegar-  A sour liquid that we put on foods like salad or dumplings.

Balsamic Vinegar

Pickles- (paocai) A sour vegetable, which in America, is usually a small cucumber (huanggua)

e.g. I hate when they put pickles on my hamburger.

Subsidize (verb)-When money is being paid for a service, not by the consumer but by the business or government.

e.g. Uber lost to Didi because Didi was subsidizing a large part of the customer’s final fare.

Cutthroat- describes someone or something that is very competitive.

e.g. The headhunting industry is very cutthroat, people will steal each other’s clients.

Censor- When you purposely prevent something from being seen because it will cause problems.

e.g. The government sometimes censors sensitive news in China.
