Homework

Use some of the vocabulary from today in some writing. Choose a topic that lets you use the words we learned.

Try to write something about tastes, maybe something you’ve eaten or tried before.

Vocabulary

Porcelain- A kind of material we use to make cups and plates. (the ones they use in England are sometimes called china, because they originally came from there)

e.g. Yesterday, I accidentally broke my favorite porcelain cup.

Accidentally/Accident- When you don’t mean to do something, you didn’t do it on purpose.

e.g. When I was driving in the parking lot , I accidentally hit another car.

Since- (second meaning) when someone has already done something and you must then also do something.

e.g. Since you have already eaten dinner, then I will just order food for myself.

Spicy- Something that tastes very intense, and sometimes feels painful.

e.g. Chongqing hotpot is one of the spiciest in China.

Sweet- When something tastes like sugar.

e.g. Many people in northern China think Guangdong food tastes too sweet.

Salty-  Something that tastes like salt.

e.g. If you don’t wash dry fish, it tastes too salty.

Sour- Something that tastes sour.

e.g. If you bite into a lemon, you will get a very sour taste.

Bitter- Something that tastes bitter.

e.g. Chinese medicine usually tastes very bitter.

Improve-  To make something better.

e.g. I wanted to improve myself so I enrolled in/I took programming classes.
