Vocabulary

Telepathy/Telepath- The ability someone has to read someone’s mind and thoughts. They are also called psychics.

e.g. Sometimes, I feel like a telepath, I can guess what people are thinking or what they want to say.

Ouija Board- A toy board where you can ask questions and an oracle can answer them.

e.g. When I was in college, i played Ouija with my friends but we got too scared later that night because we heard strange noises.

Oracle- A kind of fortune teller.

e.g. In ancient Greece, there was a famous oracle that most kings would go talk to to know the future.

Felt- It’s the material that we use for hats or whiteboard erasers.

e.g. I have a hat that’s made out of felt.

(put a) Curse/(cast a) Spell/(Enchantment or Enchanting)- Some magic that usually hurts people or a bad word you say.

e.g. My aunt was so mad that she put a curse on that man.

Warlock (man) Witch (woman)- A person who can do magic and also can hurt people using magic, either black magic or white magic.

e.g. Everyone says the old woman who lives next door is a witch, but I don’t believe them.

Voodoo Dolls- Small dolls that witches use to harm people.

e.g. When I went into her room, I found a voodoo doll with many needles in it.

Pagan- Before the Christian religion, people believed in nature.

e.g. Today, more and more people are becoming pagans because they don’t like organized religion.

Equinox- the time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth’s equator, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth and occurring about March 21.

e.g. I like to think that during the Equinox, everyone can have equal days and nights and no one suffers long nights because of  thewinter.

Solstice-The day of a solstice in either hemisphere has either the most sunlight of the year (summer solstice) or the least sunlight of the year (winter solstice) for any place other than the Equator
