Vocabulary
Real Estate- Anything that involves buying or selling property, houses, or buildings.
e.g. I own a small real estate company that sells property overseas/abroad to help Chinese people who are immigrating abroad.
Real Estate Agent- A person who works in the real estate agency and buys or sells houses for clients.
e.g. When I first moved to Shanghai, I had to find a real estate agent/company to help me rent an apartment.
Immigrate- To leave your country and move to another one.
e.g. I plan to buy a house in Greece (Xi La) and immigrate there.
Immigrant- The name we call a person who immigrates from his country to another one.
e.g. I was born in America but my parents are both immigrants, they came from Italy.
Immigration- When people move from one country to another to live OR when you go to the airport, there is security asking for people’s passports
e.g. Recently, there is a lot of immigration from China to America.
e.g. When I went to America, immigration asked me where am I from and what I do.
Customs- The place at an airport or border that checks what things you are bringing into the country.
e.g. When I went to the airport, customs checked me to see if I have a lot of money or illegal things.
Safe/Safety- The opposite of dangerous, something that won’t hurt you.
e.g. Although customs can be annoying, they check us to make sure we are safe.
Pilot- The person who flies the airplane.
e.g. Before the can fly a big plane, pilots have to study for many hours.
e.g. In China, a pilot’s salary is higher than normal jobs.
Illegal- Something that is not allowed by law. Something bad.
e.g. Pilots are not allowed by law to smoke in the plane, if they do, they are breaking the law.
Law- Rules that are set by the government.
e.g. We can’t break the law, if we do that, we will get in trouble by the police.
