Vocabulary

Estimate- When you think of a number or something but aren’t very sure, it’s only an estimate.

e.g. I estimate that this table is 2.5m long but I’m not sure.

Purchase- to buy something

e.g. I purchased a new backpack yesterday.

Profits- Extra money that is over what you’ve already spent

e.g. When you have a business, you always try to make profit.

Paycheck- the money you make from work

e.g. I don’t spend my paycheck, I save it.

Owe- how much money you have to give to someone.

e.g. I owe my mom a lot of money because she paid for my trip.

Corporations- big business companies.

e.g. Wanda is a very big Chinese corporation.

Society-  a group of people.

e.g. We live in society, not by ourselves.

Congress -a group of government people

e.g. The congress ruled that we should increase taxes.

Approval-  to allow someone to do something.

e.g. You have approval to finish class early.

Representatives- Someone who acts on your part, who does things for you.

e.g. Your mom is usually your representative when you’re young.
