Vocabulary

Affect- ying xiang something that can change something else somehow.

e.g. If I don’t study for my exam, it will affect my score.

Tuba- da hao a kind of musical instrument

e.g. I don’t like to hear the tuba because it’s notes are very low.

Siren- something that makes a sound of over and over again.

e.g. The police car was driving fast with the siren on.

Purr-  the noise a cat makes when it is happy or calm.

e.g. My cat always purrs when I pet him.

Fluid- another word for liquid.

e.g. Did you know that we have liquid in our ear.

Figure out- to understand something

e.g. Did you figure out what fluid means?

Range- distance, for hearing it is high and low notes, which ones we can hear.

Astronaut- someone who goes to space.

e.g. Neil Armstrong was the first astronaut to walk on the moon.

Astronomer-  a person who studies space, the planets and the stars

e.g. Annie Jump Cannon was a very famous astronomer.

Catalog-  mu lu  a kind of book that gives you information about something, like where it is.

e.g. If you go to the library, you can look for your book right away, you have to check the catalog.

Classify- to put things into different groups using their information.

e.g. I like to classify my snacks like this: sweet, salty, and sour.

Constellations-  groups of stars

e.g. There is a lot of constellations if you look up at the sky.
