Plateau- The part of a mountain that is flat for a long time before getting higher.

e.g. I climbed up until I reached the plateau and then I had to rest.

To hit a plateau- when you got better at something quickly but then stopped improving for a while.

e.g.  I have been losing weight very quickly but now I’ve hit a plateau.

Phonics- yinbiao pronunciation system.

e.g. I learned phonics many years ago.
