Vocabulary

Brand-new (zhanxin)- Something that is completely new.

e.g. The plane that crashed in Indonesia was brand new.

Emphasize (qiang diao)- To really make a point clear.

e.g. He emphasized how bad the mistake he made was.

Split-Cut or share something in two or more parts.

e.g. We split the chocolate bar into four pieces.

Prize- (jiang) something you win or something you wanted very badly

e.g. We split the prize in two, I took  half and she took half.

Scrutiny n./ Scrutinize v.- xi kan to examine carefully or closely.

e.g. My teacher scrutinized my work and told me to re-do it.

Wage- Salary

e.g. Minimum wage in HK is 35 per hour.

Steam- When water gets very hot and becomes gas.

e.g. Xiaolong bao are usually steamed but maybe you can fry them too.

e.g. I was running for 30 minutes but I ran out of steam, I couldn’t continue.
