Vocabulary

paradigm- an idea that is shared in common by many many people.

e.g. The dominant paradigm is that the earth is round, but some people still disagree.

 ethically sourced-When something is obtained in a fair and just manner. like people being paid acceptable amounts and not having children work.

e.g. Starbucks claims its coffee is all ethically sourced. If it wasn’t many people would stop buying.

mogul- Someone who had a very important role, or dominates a certain industry.

e.g. Wang Jian Lin is considered to be China’s real estate mogul, he owns land and buildings all over the country.

cynical- When someone’s attitude is not positive and they think of things in a negative way.

e.g. Don’t help that woman, she will ask you for money after!  Don’t be so cynical, not everyone in the world is bad.

imperative- Something that must be done, something necessary.

e.g. It is imperative that you finish all your work before leaving the office.

dearth- the lack of something

e.g. The dearth of orders during 11.11 means that we will not receive any bonus this year.

Legitimate-  Something that is true and can be trusted.

e.g. That company I invested in was not legitimate, they took  all the money and ran away.

Repercussions- Consequences

e.g. The repercussions of the government controlling the economy is that once they stop, the market will really slow down.

It’s not that the shoes are all solidly priced at $95 a pop, which is practically a steal in the current market.

e.g. The shoes’ are well priced, and compared to most other shoes on the market are much less expensive.
