Is it common or normal to make substitutions or additions to dishes at restaurants in Korea?
We easily see that someone make substitutions to dishes at restaurants in Korea now. The young generation likes to the range and they want to be respected it. And also many new restaurantās owners know that and they have so many options of choice in the menu. Especially in the handmade burger shop we can see that. For example, the server ask you what kind of patty (rare/medium/well-done) or you can request what kind of veggie donāt you like. And same as the Starbucks will be happened.
But it is not always such of that. If we go to restaurant with the boss, we usually order dishes same as the boss. Not for me, but it is very common things in Korea. Of course as the different industry, it will be happened or maybe not.
My friend told me a funny story, his boss had a argument with his wife then my friend ate spicy food and his boss drank a lot of alcohol the night before then my friend ate hangover soup. He always complain about this.
It is a big deal for me when someone order foods or drinks at the fast food, they hesitate and canāt decide quickly what they want. I donāt understand what they did when they were waiting in line.

Also many newĀ restaurantĀ ownersĀ realize(know) thatĀ soĀ they have so many optionsĀ andĀ choicesĀ in the menuĀ to accommodate them.
We can especiallyĀ see thatĀ in handmadeĀ burger shops. For example, the server/cookĀ asksĀ you, āhow do you want your burger cooked?Ā Rare, medium, or well-done?ā Or you can tell whichĀ veggies youĀ donātĀ want. It is theĀ sameĀ atĀ Starbucks. /Ā It is the same situation at/as Starbucks.Ā
However, in most Korean companies,Ā if an employee goes out to lunch with their boss, they usually order the same dishes as their boss, except for me.
