Writing exercise

Yesterday I saw a movie, which was Fight Club. It might be a great movie since the review score is very high on douban, which is one of the most influential movie review website in China. Actually I could not really understand what the movie was taking about as well as the key message the director wanted to deliver. This movie is very American style with strong regional background and social reality. Anyway it is a thought-provoking movie and everyone might have his own reflection and take-away from it.

This movie tells a story about a middle-aged office worker whose life was messed up by the problem of sleeping disorder. There was not any enthusiasm or energy he could find from his work or life. He just did the job that his boss asked him to do without any sense of accomplishment.

At this time he met a soap maker who was called Tyler and they founded an underground Fight Club. Tyler was the leader of fight club and unlike the narrator, Tyler was strong, straight-forward and confident, having his own philosophy and conception of the world. Fight Club grew very fast with increasing members joining in and also a secret project was just in implement.

At last, it turned out that Tyler was actually the figure who was imagined by the narrator; they were the same person. He killed Tyler by himself in the end.

Yesterday I saw/watched the movie Fight Club“. Before I watched it, I checked it’s rating on Douban which is one of the most influential/popular movie review websites in China and it has a high score. Actually I could not really understand what the movie was talking about as well as the theme/key message the director wanted to deliver/tell/show/say/provoke/purvey. This movie is very American style meaning this story could only happen in America. Anyway it is a thought-provoking movie and everyone might have their own reflection and take-away from it.

This movie tells a story about a middle-aged white collar whose life was messed up / destroyed / effected / turned upside down by sleep disorder. He couldn’t find any enthusiasm or energy from his life / from his work or personal life. He was just going through the motions.

(He just did the jobs/tasks/duties/responsibilities that his boss asked him to do without any sense of accomplishment.)

Later, he met a soap maker, Tyler, on a plane and due to a tragic incident they founded an underground fight club. Tyler was the leader of Fight Club and unlike the narrator, Tyler was strong, straight-forward and confident, having his own philosophy and conception of the world.
