Today is actually very important holiday for Korean. Today is national Liberation Day, Independence from Japan 1945. So we almost Korean people remember August 15, this day. Just we remind our dependence from Japan and remind how our past Korean were hard life at that time.

So most Korean people remember August 15th. Although we don’t have any special customs/traditions/celebrations, (but) we just we remember our independence from Japan and remember
how our past generations lived a hard life at that time.

eg. They had to persevere during that time because they didn’t have any food.
