Yesterday, I read a piece of news about laughters. It’s said that laugh tracks in television shows like the Big Bang theory have been encouraging audience to chuckle. The researchers found if they recorded laugh tracks in a comedy, it would be an incentive for audience to laugh. And laughter can be highly contagious.

It occurs to me a personal experience. There is an old tv show in china called Home With Kids. I was so fascinated with that show that I couldn’t help to watch it after school, when I was in primary school. At that time, I didn’t notice the laughters in that show. I was just laughing when the laugh tracks came up, even though I didn’t understand why the audience in that show was laughing. When I grow up, I find the laughters in comedy comedy are not coming out from the real audience. In fact, they didn’t have the audience when they recorded that show. They added it after they completed the recording.
Gradually I learn to use the sound as a hint when I watch the American comedy. Sometimes I have no idea about the highlights and jokes, because my vocabulary is limited. I will play it back and watched again. At the same time I could widen my vocabulary. I will take a joke for example: what is the best day for cooking? Friday. Here is another one: how does a dinosaur pay its bills? Using tyrannosaurus checks.
In addition, laughters could create a relaxing ambience. However I hate the terrified and nervous sound in horror movies.
