ie. Jesse’s room is an inheritance. I got that room as an inheritance from Jesse.

ie. Your body is a temple; you should treat it like one.

ie. It’s a good time to eat crayfish. Crayfish are in season.

ethnicity/ethnic background: race
ie. Someone’s ethnicity is different from their nationality.

impulsive: chong dong

upbeat: active, happy all the time
ie. Ally is impulsive and upbeat at the same time.

please: (v) tao hao
ie. She’s a people-pleaser.

complacent(adj): zhi zu / zi man (n) complacency
ie. I’ve had my ups and downs and now I’m at a very complacent point/stage in my life.

“out of the blue”: suddenly, without plan
ie. I didn’t ask him to come, he appeared out of the blue.

juggle (v): in the concept, too many things to do at once = balance
ie. It’s different to juggle school and work at same time.
ie. I was juggling all the unexpected work and regular work.

brown-noser: ma pi jing
ie. You cannot judge me for being a brown-noser.

climb the corporate/social ladder:  concept
ie. I’m at the bottom of the corporate ladder.

“silver lining”: good side to a bad thing
ie. She’s a very optimistic person who sees the silver lining in every bad situation.
