Today we focused on:

Vocabulary

apparently: 表面上 <>actually
ie. Apparently, Laura has no logic.
ie. Laura has no apparent (adj) logic.
ie. Laura appears (v) to have no logic.

initiative: (n) 倡议; 新方案; 主动性; 积极性; 自发性; 掌握有利条件的能力(或机会); 主动权;
ie. She’s an employee who shows a lot of initiative.

proactive: zhu dong de (adj)
ie. I always do my work proactively.

initiate: (v) start, fa dong
ie. I don’t want to talk with you anymore because I don’t want to initiate an argument.

prospects: (n)可能性; 希望; 前景; 展望; 设想; 成功的机会; 前途
ie. I think it is a good job position with nice prospects/long-term prospects.

repetitive: adj – same thing all the time (repeat)
ie. My previous job had lots of repetitive work.

eager:  adj re qie de
ie. Laura is a student who’s eager for knowledge./eager to learn.

count: zuo shu
ie. I never eat late-night anymore… Oh, last night doesn’t count.

elaborate: (v)give more details on your statement (adj) lots of details, lots of thought into it <>simple

ie. You should elaborate on the simple facts when you introduce yourself/when you’re at a job interview.

flashy: shan guang de
ie. You shouldn’t say lots of flashy words about yourself./use a lot of flashy words to describe yourself.

groomed/ composed: calm镇静; 镇定; 平静/ (v) zu cheng …. *is composed of*
ie. When I graduated, I was a noobie, but now I can remain composed in any situation.

constantly: non-stop
ie. I can’t continue my work if the two departments constantly disagree.

Q: Please introduce yourself.
A: Hi, I’m Laura. I worked as a administrative for 12 years, and I’m a very fast learner and calm and can work under pressure very well.
A: I’m from North of China, I’m a part of minority, so I can speak Korean as a modern language. I’ve been living in SH for 12 years, I really like SH, and there are a lot of opportunities for development. I’ve been working as an administrative since I came to SH.

A: I’m from North of China, I’m from a minority ethnic group, so my mother tongue is actually Korean. Ever since I graduated in 2008, I’ve been living in SH for 12 years. I really like it in SH, because I feel that there are a lot of opportunities for eager young people like me. I’ve been working as an administrative, so I definitely have a lot of experience.

Q: Your strengths? Why are you good fit for us?
A: In my previous job, I arranged a lot of meetings, and record the meeting and follow-up the projects which we decided in the meeting. I made report every month and it had a very strict deadline, so I have to made the reports under the pressure. I have to made it in correct status. I assist the general manager to review the agreements with overseas agents and our clients to make sure the agreements is without any arguments before we sign on it. I can provide a lot of data to analysis our profits and find out the problems for management departments. So according to my experience, I think I’m a good fit for your company.

A: I think I learned a lot from my previous job/ I look at my previous job as a wonderful learning experience/opportunity. I was responsible for a lot different things, and I had to work with almost every department. For example, I arranged and made records all our meetings, and I also followed-up on the projects (that were) decided in the meetings. I made monthly reports to my general manager and there was always a very tight and strict deadline, so I had to constantly work under pressure. In the beginning, I wasn’t very good at it, but overtime, now I can remain composed/calm in any emergent situation. I assisted the general manager to review (our) agreements with overseas agents and our clients to make sure they are without any arguments before we sign. I was also responsible for providing correct data and statistics to analyze our profits and identify the problems for management departments. So based on these experiences, I think I’m a good fit for your company.
