Speaking exercise

Q: What do you think of these public-shaming measures? Do you think it’s right to do so?

A: Some old people always walk across the road, no matter if the light is red or green. Because they’re old people, the car scared of them. Because when the car trips them, it will have a very expensive fee. For those people who cross the road when the light is red, I think it’s a way to let them feel shame. I think it’s good. I’m happy with that way, because sometimes I hate this action. In old times, some people’s face will on the poster, the poster will say “we want you”… For some people who have crimes, they would be taken to work the streets. It’s almost like that.

Edited: Some older people walk across the road, no matter/regardless if the light is red or green. Because they’re older people, drivers are scared of them. Because when the car hits/scrapes them, the driver has to pay a large sum of compensation. For those people who cross the road when the light is red, I think it’s a good way to let them feel shame. I think it’s good. I’m happy with these measures/policies, because I hate the action of jay-walking. In old times, some people’s faces would be on posters, and the posters would say “Have You Seen This Person/Wanted“. For some people who have committed crimes, they would be taken to work on the streets. It’s almost like that. Some thieves will be shown on those posters.
