Q: Tell me about your ideal boss
A: An ideal boss need to have two important characteristics. One is the boss need to be very professional. He could be professional in one specific field or could be pro in management. The other is he or she need to be a strategic and logical person. I don’t want my boss to be very emotional and picky, I prefer he or she could be reasonable and supportive. I think my current one is ok. I can give you one example that happened recently. I’ve been facing a complaint from the end consumer. The end consumer reported to the government that there is a quality issue with our products. So this reports goes to our compliance dept. The compliance lady was coming to my desk and challenged me on this. She also bluffed that … that the company will face a big penalty and even the govt will cancel the subsidy given to your company. Firstly I looked up on the internet to validate her words. Then I went to my boss and told her the reality situation. The first words that she said to me was “don’t worry, it’s her job to do this”. So at this moment, I feel so supportive. I did make some mistake, but my boss said it’s normal and we can learn from this.
