What does observe, correct, upgrade, review mean for me?

Observe, Correct, Upgrade, Review

The SE method focuses on the student – topics that they need or interest them, and areas of their English that need improvement. This is determined when a student finishes their demo class with us, and a profile is created. We get them to speak and write, OBSERVE their mistakes and shortcomings, CORRECT their mistakes, and UPGRADE their vocabulary, and help them understand English grammar, sentences and logic. Then, we give them homework that lets them REVIEW what they have learned.

Pronunciation: Get student to slow read simple English articles with few or no new words & focus on mouth movements, especially AEIOU in most cases. Writing: Student to write simple diaries for HW – focus on sentence structure and grammar.

2-3 – OK but frequent issues

Listening / Speaking / Pronunciation / Writing: 2.5

Can use English reliably in most familiar situations, speed is average, limited knowledge of synonyms, English is starting to be quite useful for the student – traveling using English is possible Suggested teaching approach Listening: Needs mid-speed speaking, encourage them to guess meaning, vocabulary or pronunciation needs work.  Speaking: Needs to self correct during conversation, speaking exercises sometimes, focus on long sentences & the importance of English grammar (prepositions, conjunctions, tense) Pronunciation: Get student to read simple English articles with few or no new words & focus on mouth movements and connecting words like “I want to” becomes “I wantoo” Writing: Student to write set HW focusing on avoiding previous grammar & vocabulary mistakes
