Writing exercise

Dear Ken,

I am sending you this email because it will be difficult to find enough time to discuss sth/sb with you since it is the end of the school year.

I thought it would be best to send you an email to explain my work with xxx.

…

I’ve been working with xxx for 1 month on different problems/issues/areas of concern. X’s parents told me that their first concern was that xxx tells little white lies about everything and his overall behavior at home and school. They sought my help to improve his relationship with his parents and his classmates. They were also concerned with his marks/grades.

My method to help him is by making weekly goals to improve his behavior in order to help him be more conscience of his actions and less impulsive.
Every time he lies I ask him to answer these three questions in a journal/diary:
1. What was the lie?
2. Why did you feel the need to lie?
3. How do you feel after telling the lie?

To promise parents to will not do something or will do something and on the other side his parents not shout him. We are also working in agreements between him and his parents they do a weekly promise to accomplish. A classmate tell him “you’re a ___” … Train him to not answer his classmates in a bad way and instead of this go to the director or you to explain the situation.

He promises his parents to change one behavior every week and on the other hand his parents will discipline him appropriately and accordingly.

As for his classmates when he has confrontations with them I am giving him the skills and power to not retaliate in a negative way and instead go to the director or you to explain the situation and find a suitable resolution.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me / please contact me.

Sincerely,

Karen
