Vocabulary

hike / hiking / hiked (-t) – usually walking in or on a mountain

uphill vs. downhill
eg. We hiked uphill for 4 hours and downhill for 4 hours. / We hiked up the stairs for 4 hours and down the stairs for 4 hours.

I walked up the stairs / I took the stairs instead of the elevator/lift.

hold on to sth
eg. Karen held on to the railing so she wouldn’t fall down the stairs.
eg. My mom always made me hold on to her dress when we crossed the street.

Writing exercise

I have been in Huangshan the last weekend. It was very nice to see those amazing landscapes in this huge country, we could totally disconnect of our daily crazy life in the city.
Even I prefer the beach instead of the mountain, I was really surprised this time.
We started choosing between go up to the top of the mountain by cable car or walking, and finally we chose to do it walking. At first it seemed easy, but it was changing every step we did. We were 9 hours up and down stairs and I never do sports! It was exhausted, during the last steps I was almost crying, I had help myself with my hands to arrive to the LAST cable car to go down of the mountain. If we didn’t arrive at time, we had needed to go After two days I still can’t walk normally.

I went to Huangshan last weekend. It was very nice to see those amazing landscapes in this huge country. My boyfriend and I totally disconnected from our daily crazy lives in the city.

After two days I still can’t walk normally.
