Online Class Notes (Tibo) [S]

Today we focused on:

Discussed the game market and paying users

Speaking exercise

I was planning to go back to Beijing but I cancelled. I don’t have any lans.
Very lonely.
I have to stay alone. Maybe I am going to watch some videos or play games.
There is a new game which is launched a few days ago produced by supercell the name is brawl stars

the company is bought by tencent

The price is very high at that time.
My company was competing with Tencent trying to buy supercell but the price was much lower but we are very rash on that deal we don’t want to pay too much not worth that value.
I was ranked top 200 around the world / worldwide in  clash royal .
you have to buy the kind of weapons or soldiers. they have different features. you have an army with different soldiers, weapons. It is spends me a lot of money.

We try to classify the users on different dimension like the money they spend, location , sex. I think the money that they spend is one of the most effective factor that is very helpful to producers to improve the game.

Generally the users can be classify by free to play /  r users / R users

IOS users spend more than android users. Because IOS users are rich. they can buy expensive phones like iPhones.

so that means they are rich so they are able to pay more money. They want to explore more fun from a game and afford them more features and content they will likely to pay for that.

Android users they have tried many methods to avoid spending money. They can play more time to reach a level as much as IOS users. they are willing to pay more time.

Users generally can accept that. different pricing systems.
Not only happens on video games but also other products.

for all the android users the price is the same. The reason is all the android users are playing together.
The two different groups of users can’t connect together.

for example for casual games. there s a high higher pay rate but a lower amount of money they spend.
Most of people spend a little amount but for other kind of games like rpgs there is a lower pay rate but paying users usually spend a lot of money every month to be stronger. to rank very high ranking on a game. They are willing to pay to be better.
different games have different purposes.
Like PUBG, it is a PVP game but you don’t have to pay a lot in that game. Only when you are playing rpgs the pvp will cost a lot of money.

If the system of the game allows people to be stronger by buying items then the game actually encourages people to spend more money.

ARPU (average revenue per user)

The ARPU is higher than few years ago because the economy is growing, people are getting richer so they are willing to pay more money.

the millennial or generation X they are more willing to spend money on virtual things. They are willing to be satisfied. They not only spend money on game but also online video subscription  . they are satisfied with the basic needs  and they are richer
