Last week, I had a class with Nicolas and we talked about “only child”. Nicolas said, in America they think only child is weird because only child doesn’t have sister or brother to talk to. But our generation are used to it and I don’t want to have one more kid in my life. A lot of people said there are many benefits of the old people who have many children and two kids can accompany with each other. Maybe the second reason is true but I don’t agree the first one.

For our parents’ generation, most of them have a lot of brothers and sisters, but when their parents get old or ill, when they need to take time and spend money to take care of their parents, sometimes they would find their brothers and sisters disappeared. They start to put off and find some excuses to refuse to take their responsibility. And for possession, how many brothers and sisters fight for it? If these old parents only have one kid, then their kid can’t put off his responsibility and he doesn’t need to fight for the possession.

To be honest for the second reason. As I have grown up, I don’t think brother or sister is necessary for a kid. Every person comes to the world by himself, the other one can only accompany with us for only a short period, no matter who they are.

At the end of my grandfather’s life, I don’t think they take care him very well. They say my grandfather is very weird, very noisy, very tired. So they took him to the center old people’s nursing home and then my grandfather went to the nursing house and after 5 months he passed away. Because at the nursing home they cannot take care of a very old people very well. But my grandfather, maybe he didn’t have the ability to take care of him very well. At that time he really need family’s caring. He live with my uncle and my mom and my auntie cannot go to their home every day to take care of my father.
