Vocabulary

Innocence (n): 1- the fact that someone is not guilty of a crime. 2- the quality of not having much experience of life and not knowing about the bad things that happen in life.
E.g.: She pleaded her innocence, but no one believed her.
E.g.: He was led away, protesting his innocence (= saying he was not guilty).
E.g.: She has a child-like innocence which I find very appealing.

Sexism (n): 1- unfair treatment of people based on their sex (male or female), especially the unfair treatment of women.
E.g.: The university has been accused of sexism because it has so few female professors.
E.g.: Sexism is a problem that exists everywhere, and we all should fight.

Red flag (n): 1-a sign or warning of any impending danger, disaster or doom.
E.g.: The way he talked about his ex-wife was a red flag for me (it served as a warning he didn’t respect women).

Segregation (n): 1- the policy of keeping one group of people apart from another and treating them differently, especially because of race, sex, or religion.
E.g.:The system of racial segregation that used to exist in South Africa was called apartheid.
E.g.:The community fought to end segregation in schools and housing.
