Vocabulary

Preschool – kids 3-4 years old
Kindergarten – kids 5 years old
Elementary School – grades 1 -5/6
Junior High / Middle School – grades 5/6 – 8
High School – grades 9-12 (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior)

Boarding School – usually, students in the US go to school near where they live, but some students go farther away and have to live at the school; these are called boarding schools

Condition – something that happens and that makes it possible for another thing to also happen; the “if” part of an “if . . . then . . .” sentence
e.g. The condition for me coming out tonight is that I first finish all my homework (I won’t be able to go to the party until all my homework is done) = If I finish my homework, then I can go to the party.
e.g. If I get a new job, then I will be able to go home earlier in the evenings.
e.g. I would go out tonight if I could finish my homework (I probably won’t be able to)
e.g. I will go out tonight if I can finish my homework (it is possible, but I’m not sure how likely)

— In this sense, “back” is not a verb

When would you come back – will
— “Would” is asking about a condition — what needs to happen for you to want/be able to come back?
— “Will” is just asking when or if you plan to do something.
