Write a short story using irregular verbs in the past tense.

Vocabulary

project: 项目

eg. I have to work on 3 projects this year.

build: 建造，修建

eg. They’re building new houses by the river.

mean: 意思

eg. What do you mean?

spend time/money: 花时间/钱

eg. How much time did you spend reading yesterday?

eg. I spent 2 hours reading yesterday.

send: 送；发送

eg. I sent everyone an email before I left.

eg. You can send them a letter.

Grammar

Present simple tense:

  1. Daily routine, repeated actions or events – I wake up at 8 am and I brush my teeth before I go to school.
  2. Talking about general truths – The sun rises in the East.
  3. Instructions and Directions – Turn right when you see 7-11/Put the meat in the bag.

Past simple tense:

  1. To talk about complete actions in the past – She played with her sister after coming home.
  2. Talk about a series of actions completed in the past – I woke up, had breakfast and went to class.

put/cut -> put/cut (past tense)

eg. I cut the paper into pieces.

eg. She put on her clothes before she left this morning.

stand/understand ->stood/understood (past tense)

eg. She stood up and dropped her phone.

eg. It took some time before my dog understood what I said.

mean/send/build/spend ->meant/sent/built/spent

eg. I don’t think she meant what she said.

eg. My boss sent me a lot of work last night.

eg. When was this house built?

eg. I spent 3 hours working on my project.

Writing exercise

I got up at eight o’clock today. After I washed my face and brushed my teeth and made breakfast. I ate an egg, some vegetables and two pieces of bacon. I washed the dishes after breakfast. Then I washed clothes, watched moves and walked my dog. I had lunch at twelve o’clock. Then I leaved my home to went to class at three pm.
