Vocabulary

theme: the main topic of a film, book, event etc.

eg. Each year the theme of the annual event changes every year.

prize-draw: a type of competition or opportunity to enter something with the possibility of a prize to be won.

eg. The employees held an annual company prize draw and all prizes are donated by management.

interrogate: to ask someone a lot of questions for a long time in order to get information, sometimes using threats or violence

eg. The police have already interrogated 20 suspects in the past week.

ceramics: 陶瓷

jade: 玉;翡翠

pottery: objects that are made out of clay by hand

eg. They sell pottery and some other handmade goods.

Speaking exercise

The work is not very busy for this month because it’s getting to year end. We will have a dinner party next month before the Chinese New Year. I think it will be good because it is not only a party but also an event. You can win some prizes if you do good in the performance. There are many different types of performance like singing, role-play, acting etc.

We are busy to have dinner or have afternoon tea with our client. You cannot be very relaxing when you have lunch with your client, not like having lunch with your friend. You need to social with your client and ask some questions about their performance for this year and their plans for next year. You need to remember what they say.
