Vocabulary

1. primary school= elementary school
ex: We have to go to primary school for 5 or 6 years.
ex: I didn’t go to primary school today because I am sick.

2. wearing= put some clothes on
ex: it’s very cold today, you need to wear more clothes.
ex: I wear socks everyday.
ex: you need to wear a dress today.

3. yard= a big land of grass
ex: in my backyard, my mom planted an apple tree.
ex: I can find flowers in the yard.

4. litter (verb)= throw garbage on the ground
ex: we cannot litter because we need to protect the environment.
ex: Please don’t litter in the yard.

5. trash (noun)= garbage
ex: you need to put the trash in the garbage can.
ex: don’t leave the trash on the ground.

6. cap= hat
ex: I don’t like to wear a cap in summer because it’s too hot.
ex: It’s hot today, take off your cap.

7. protect = keep someone away from danger
ex: My mom and dad will protect me from bad people.
ex: my skin can protect my body.

Dear mother earth,

My name is Jean, I’m eleven and I’m from China. I’m in grade four at Chaoyang primary school. Today is April 22nd, and it’s Earth Day. All the students in our school are wearing green t-shirts and green caps to celebrate . We are planting trees around our school. You can see many trees and colorful flowers in our school. Some students are cleaning up the schoolyard. Some students are picking up the litter. We put all the trash in the bins behind our school. The schoolyard is clean and nice now. We promise to make everyday Earth day. Thank you for giving us the wonderful world. We will try out best to protect you. qa
