Vocabulary

1. external charger/ portable charger= 充电宝
ex: My phone is out of battery, I need an external charger.

2. earphones/ headphones= 耳机
ex: I like to listen to music with my earphones.

3. blanket= 毯子／被子
ex: On the plane, you can ask for a blanket. “Can I have a blanket please?”

4. embarrassed= 尴尬.  embarrassing= 尴尬的
ex: I feel embarrassed when people compliment me.
ex: This is an embarrassing moment, my phone is dying but I have an online class.

1.What do you do? / Tell me about your job

I specialize in online media for WeChat, Weibo, xiaohongshu, etc. I am the executive director in the company, I am in charge of online advertisement, and operate WeChat official accounts for enterprises. Our clients include American Express, Greenland, etc. We plan and implement different designs according to seasons/ festivals. I created my own brand for shoes in Dominic Republic, we have 10 retail stores, we do wholesale and retail trades. we go over the designs with our design teams and export to Dominic Republic. (We also import cigars from Dominic Republic.)

2. What is your favorite activity with your son? How do you spend time with him?

I read Peppa Pig stories and play with him. We go to the park and the zoo. We also go to the aquarium.

We have been to Thailand, HongKong, NewYork, Dominic Republic, ShenYang, Guangdong, and other places/cities nearby Shanghai.

I love to sing with him at home, whenever I can. He can sing “little apple, twinkle twinkle little star, and other children songs”. I like to take him out to grocery shopping. He also likes skating, horse riding, and watching “Thomas and his friends”.

3. What is your plan for him?

I want him to be healthy and happy. He can grow up to be loved, kind and independent. I plan for him to stay in Shanghai before secondary school to learn Chinese. Maybe he could go abroad for studying after elementary school. It’s important for him to learn Chinese well.

4. Who takes care of him when you are at work?

My mom and nanny takes care of him when I am at work. They play with him everyday and takes him to gym class once a week. I am very flexible at work, so I can spend a lot of time with him as well.
