Vocabulary

hike: an increase in the cost of something, especially a large or unwanted increase

eg. The recent hike in train fares came as a shock to commuters.

highway: 公路

abruptly: in a sudden, unexpected , and sometimes unpleasant way

eg. He stood up abruptly and went outside.

eg. The call ended abruptly.

hypnosis (n): a mental state like sleep, in which a person’s thoughts can be easily influenced by someone else.

hypnotise(v)

eg. She agreed to put someone in a state of hypnosis.

eg. I don’t believe that people can be hypnotised.
