Why people need hobby?
For the past years, I’ve been trying to develop some hobbies / specialties to fulfill my leisure time. Firstly, instead of thinking about what kind of hobby I want to get, I’d love to ask myself why I need hobby. Plus, I’m an alternate, how can I develop specialties?
To answer the first question, there are 2 main reasons to have a hobby. The first reason entails about structuring your time. As the saying goes,” idle hands are the devil’s workshop”, people veg out spare time without plans such as binge-watching TV shows or laboring over work. On the opposite, an active leisure can invigorate people and generate flows, and people with flows feel their life is happier and more meaningful. The second reason is a hobby or specialty can remind you that there are many facets to your self-concept. Sometimes people may captivate by work for long time or suffer from work or relationships, and your ego and your self-esteem are damaged. Hobbies can cope with stress from your rough day. With the leisure and achievements you get from it, you will realize that a blow to one aspect of your identity is less damaging. Simply put, your eggs aren’t all in one basket.
Given that I’m an alternate, it’s hard for me to focus on one thing and keep doing it.The way to solve the problem is to keep trying new stuff until I find the one I feel truly inspired and enlivened by.
So in 2021, I will designate several hours a week for searching / indulging into hobbies, and I expect zest in my work & life.
