Last class we mentioned mobile payment was pretty popular in China, and Alipay and Wechat pay were nearly occupied the mobile payment market in China, meanwhile we talked about the status of Paypal, the global mobile and online payment system. Paypal is active in the western country, but seems western people like to use cash or credit card to pay, so to Paypal, China market has got a huge opportunity, but seems it is difficult to fight with Alipay and wechat pay. But this week, a piece of news comes from financial industry of China: Paypal 100% purchased “Guofubaoâ€, one of China’s financial institution, that means Paypal can officially enter the third party payment market in China. The news brought lots of talk from the industry: Can Paypal find the opportunity in China market? Any action from Alipay and Wechat? Most of professionals guess that Paypal’s breakthrough point is cross border E commerce, it can help China consumer easy to reach the oversea online purchasing platform as this is the weakness to Alipay and Wechat. But anyway, to normal consumer, this is good news as they can have more choice to select their favorite payment methods.
