珍爱生命从护心开始(cherish life, start from protecting heart)

生命第一杀手(the first killer)

这些年来,随着我国经济的发展,在人们解决了温饱之后,伴随而来的是与吸烟、缺乏运动、紧张和过度饮食等不良生活方式相关的慢性疾病,尤其是心血管疾病、肿瘤等已经成为危害健康、危及生命的第一杀手。

With the development of the economy in recent years, we have already ensured people are provided with basic living needs including food, shelter and clothing. However, as a leading cause of death, more and more people suffer from chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases and cancer often as result of unhealthy habits such as smoking, lack of exercise, stress, and overreating.

近年来,猝死事件在各地屡有发生。压力过大,劳累过度,使得不少中青年人的身体处于亚健康状态,最后积重难返而猝死。在众多猝死事件中,多数是由心肌梗死引起的。而半数以上的心肌梗死是没有先兆的,突然发病,致死或致残;在心肌梗死的发病早期死亡者中,半数都死在到达医院之前。

In recent years, sudden death has started to occur in many places throughout China. Many young and middle-aged people are in the sub-health state and die suddenly due to being stressed and overworked. Most of these cases are the result of myocardial infarction with more than half of cases occuring without any obvious symptoms and leading to death or disability, and around half of the MI patients die before they reach hospital for treatment.

在很多人的印象里,高血压、冠心病、心肌梗死好像是中老年人的“专利”。其实不然,现在每天医院急诊室,监护室里都能看到一些非常年轻的心肌梗死患者,而且越来越多。

As far as most people are concerned, hypertension, coronary disease and myocardial infarction are exclusive to middle-aged and the elderly, however this is not true, especially these days when an ever-increasing number of admissions to Emergency and ICU are of young people.

无知者“无畏”(the one who knows nothing fears nothing) / “ignorance is bliss”

多数并不是死于无钱,而是死于无知,即缺乏预防意识,缺乏对健康的忧患意识,这在“白骨精”(白领,骨干,精英)中尤为突出。他们每天忙于应酬,很少有人把自己的健康放在心上。

Many people who die unexpectedly from disease do not lack money, but rather, are ignorant in that they are not fully aware of disease prevention and the potential dangers to their health. This problem is evident among all types of people including white-collar workers, middle managers and elites who are busy with social activities and seldom pay attention to their health.

值得注意的是,不健康的生活方式导致的心血管病多是“隐性杀手”,平时无明显症状,但在不知不觉或没有先兆的情况下,以突然发病的形式瞬间结束人们的生命。相当多的病人第一次发病或第一次有临床表现就是心肌梗死,甚至猝死。

It’s worth noting that having an unhealthy lifestyle is a “hidden killer” of cardiovascular disease since in many cases, people die without experiencing precursor symptoms, with the first attack or symptom being myocardial infarction, or other conditions causing sudden death.

令人担忧的是,现在很多“白骨精”们根本意识不到自己是心血管疾病的高危人群,甚至幻想患病以后再亡羊补牢。实际上,在长期的超负荷“压迫”下,他们一旦发病就会一发不可收拾(it got out of hand),第一次就往往可能猝死,所以一定不能心存侥幸(rely on luck)。

A concerning fact is that many people are not aware of being in a high-risk group of cardiovascular disease and even believe it’s never too late to repair or reverse any prior damage. In fact, when the body is under the stress of being overworked for an extended period, an attack quickly escalates and is untreatable, resulting in death. It is crucial for people to not be apathetic and to take responsibility for being informed when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle, avoiding preventable disease, and potentially life-saving medical treatments they may require.

管住嘴,迈开腿(control your diet & habits, and exercise frequently)/ control your mouth, move your legs)

血脂的异常和胆固醇升高、吸烟、糖尿病、高血压、中心型肥胖、日常生活缺乏运动,饮食缺乏蔬菜水果,都已经被证明是心血管疾病的重要危险因素。既然我们已经知道心血管疾病是一个多种危险因子的疾病,那么应首先从防危险因素上做起,而不是等到患了高血压再去吃降压药物,得了高血脂再去降血脂。

Abnormal lipid and cholesteral levels, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, central obesity, and a lack of exercise, fruit and vegetables have all been proved to be major risk factors of cardiovascular diseases. As we are aware, cardiovascular diseases are multi-factorial diseases, we should start from preventation instead of taking anti-hypertensive drugs to treat hypertention and lipid-lowering agents in treating hyperlipidaemia

心血管疾病是可防,可控,可救的。吸烟是万恶之源,不只是危害心血管,也是引起呼吸系统和多种癌症的“罪犯”。吸烟害己更害人,吸烟不是“嗜好”,而是疾病。肥胖和血脂异常也可以明显增加高血压,心肌梗死等的危险。

Cardiovascular diseases are preventable, controllable, and treatable. “Smoking is the root of all evil”. It is not a hobby, but a disease. It harms both the smoker and those in their vacinity, not only doing damage to the heart and blood vessles but also causing repiratory diseases and numerous forms of cancer.  Overweight and abnormal blood lipid can also vastly increase the risk of high blood pressure and myocardial infarction.

对每一个人来说,要有一个健康的身体,首先要不吸烟,“管住嘴”,特别要从青少年抓起。引导青少年从小养成健康文明的生活习惯,告别吸烟,告别垃圾食品。

For us, the first thing that we should do to ensure a healthy body is not smoke. Teenagers should develop healthy and civilized lifestyles and keep away from smoking and junk food.

“迈开腿”,除了爬山,游泳等运动以外,要把路走起来。如果大家能坚持每天快步走一万步的话,持之以恒,定将受益匪浅。饭吃八成饱,日行万步路,为最有效的减肥方法。

Move one’s legs means that we should walk more besides sports such as climbing mountains and swiming. One can benefit a lot by keep walking fast for 10000 paces every day. Having meals 80 percent full and walk 10000 paces a day are the best way to lose weight.
