Every fingertip of my left hand has calluses. If one plays acoustic guitar for years, a thin layer of calluses, invisible yet hard, woudl be inevitable on the fingertips.
I owned my first guitar in my 15. Two weeks after, the six steel strings has left marks on my fingers. Years went by, on the New year’s gala in college, in the campus band show when I studied in the US, all the way to last week’s TGIF night in office when I played music with my collegues, as I share music with more and more firends, my calluses on fingertips have became a reminder to me, that all my perseverance and efforts is bringing me to higher level. Just like those calluses, they have grown to be armors of my hand, and heplping me overcoming more sophidtacted fingerpicking songs.

There are only 6 strings on a guitar, while programming 2000 lines of codes was a challenge at a new level.
My Master’s thesis studies El Nino, where I needed to simulate the movement of atmosphere on Pacific Ocean, using statistic model run by super computor.
In all those late nights at the lab in the Sience Hill of Yale campus, line-by-line debugging, I never felt tired.
Eventually, the successful simulation model, turning into published paper, gave me a huge sense of accomplishment that offset all my tiredness.

There are only 6 strings on a guitar, while programming 2000 lines of code was a challenge at a whole other level.
My Master’s thesis was on the El Nino, where I needed to simulate the movement of the atmosphere on the Pacific Ocean, using statistical modeling run by super computor.
In all those late nights at the lab in the Science Hill of Yale campus, line-by-line debugging, I never once felt overwhelmed.
Eventually, the successful simulation model, turning into a published paper, gave me a huge sense of accomplishment that offset all my tiredness / struggles.

You’re just a girl. These words, became the soundtrack to my early adulthood / post graduate studies and beyond – spoken by a respected professor….. 10 sentences or so to tell the story. 8 sentences or so to reveal the realisation & new mindset. These words echoed what my own mother had always said to me – settle down and be a good wife.
