make up for – when you do something because you missed sth else
eg. I missed her birthday so I made up for it by taking her on a holiday
memorize – to try to remember sth so you can recite it / remember it later
recite – to say sth after having memorized it
commemorate – a celebration / cultural occasion to remember or celebrate someone from history
remember – could be similar to commemorate, but also just means you suddenly think of sth
poet – a person who writes poems
